Transmission Care

A transmission rarely fails in a hurry. It tells you in advance — provided someone is reading the signs.

Transmission Care

Automatic transmissions are the most expensive component people ignore until they cannot. Hot fluid, traffic creep, and the occasional missed service interval quietly thin the friction additives in the ATF. By the time the gearbox shudders under load, repair is already three times the cost of regular care.

Our transmission service treats the gearbox like a pressure-driven instrument: we read the line pressures, we sample the fluid, and we listen to the unit through a stethoscope before we recommend a single thing.

What we check

  • ATF colour, smell and particulate inspection on a clean white card
  • Live transmission control module readout — adaptation values, error history
  • Line and cooler pressure measurement at idle, drive and reverse
  • Slip ratio and torque-converter lockup behaviour during a road test
  • Pan inspection for ferrous fines and clutch material (where applicable)

What we typically replace

  • Genuine ATF in the grade specified by the manufacturer
  • Transmission filter, pan gasket and drain plug seal
  • Cooler hoses where wear or contamination is observed
  • Seal kits on torque converters when low-pressure fault is confirmed

What gets logged in your file

  • Before/after ATF samples photographed side by side
  • Adaptation reset and re-learn confirmation print
  • Pressure readings logged at four operating points
  • Mileage stamp for the next recommended check
A clean fluid change today is forty times cheaper than a rebuilt gearbox in two years. The maths is unromantic, but it is consistent.
